"The lost, the anchor, and the siren"

Films: Nymph (2014)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Ocean/Haunted Home

Height/Weight: Twice that of an average dolphin.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: Mermaids are often interchangeable with sirens. And in that case, they're big jerks most of the time. One moment you think you're hearing the loveliest song of them all, the next you're getting feasted upon a monster that just made you beach yourself against the rocks. Sure enough, just having to put up with one of these creatures is a nightmare.

History: Long ago, an expedition to find the fabled three islands of Sirenum Scopuli ended up revealing that they were a bit more separate than that. An expedition led to Mudula, an island off the coast of Montenegro. The crew found a mermaid named Scylla, who killed all but two of them. Later, the place became an abandoned military complex, and only truly stupid people would dare enter. But people did, and now they face not only Scylla, but the Guardian, a crazed ex-lieutenant from the earlier expedition who kills people with an anchor and brings their dead bodies for the mermaid to feed upon.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: The Guardian is killed after a bloody battle, sending Scylla into a rage. However, the survivors manage to get to shore, and the other remainder of the expedition finally gets his revenge by stabbing her with a rusty pronged spear. However, the Guardian is revealed to have survived, and when a mermaid army shows up, the last true survivor kills him out of mercy and vengeance after swearing to kill every last mermaid coming their way...

Powers/Abilities: A singing voice that can lull humans to their side or to death. Mermaids can also change their form from ugly and predatory to beautiful and picturesque.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3-The CGI is not all that great, especially when Scylla transitions between forms. But for the most part, you have to find it a bit unnerving that someone took the "guy falls in love with mermaid" story, and made it one about partners in crime with one stalking a haunted area to kill and feed to his oceanic soulmate. It would be sweet if it weren't so horrific.

Trivia: -Scylla is named after the monster that Ulysses faced in Homer's "The Odyssey". She lived in a cliff right next to the living whirlpool Charybdis, was described as having many heads, and would eat those who didn't get sucked up by the water as they tried to move quite literally between a rock and a hard place.

-Scylla was played by Zorana Kostic Obradovic. It was perhaps her only notable role, as of this writing

And then a shark comes and ends this movie before it begins. We've got many in this very decade!

Oh, look. She brought her high-school buddies.
That is NOT how you do a love-bite. You did with your claws, even!

Date-night wasn't supposed to be this bad.
And rocking that tail design.

If Ariel looked like this, worrying about no legs wouldn't be a priority.
What a beautifully colored fantasy! I wonder what the actual film looks like?
